About the Bayou Collective

Our purpose, values, and approach to collective giving

Our Story

The Bayou Collective Giving Circle was formed to bring people together around shared values, collective responsibility, and a commitment to supporting Black-led organizations across the greater Houston region.

We proudly stand on the shoulders of New Giving Collective, founded in 2016 to model transformative philanthropy in Houston’s Black community. The Bayou Collective builds on that legacy by bringing together Black women and allies who believe that pooling resources, trusting Black leadership, and funding long-term sustainability are essential to a healthy nonprofit ecosystem.

This giving circle exists to strengthen connections across organizations, leaders, and funders—so Black-led work can be supported with care, consistency, and shared responsibility.
